Spencer was baptised on July 15, 2001.

Our parish pastor, Fr. Gerry (right) conducted the cermony. When we arrived, he gave us the option of having Spencer completely immersed for his baptism.

On the left you see the most g-rated photo of his actual baptism that we have.

Here are Spencer's godparents, Mary and Joseph. No, I did not make that up, those are really their names. No, that's not why we picked them. In fact, we only realized that we had done this when we were at the church, before the cermony. We amuse ourselves.

Mary is also Matthew's future mother-in-law as her daughter has announced her intention to marry Matthew. (We won't mention that she also plans to marry Spencer.)

Joe is also Matthew and Spencer's uncle. He's Kevin's younger brother. The #2 son is godfather to the #2 son-- I just figured that out....

Hey, I said we amused ourselves.

The gown that Spencer is wearing was his Great-Grandfather's christening gown. He was Mommy's Mom's Father (Grandma Veva's dad.) It's actually two parts. The undergown is a sleeveless gown with an empire waist and eyelet skirt. The top gown has sleeves, decorative gathers on the bodice and also has an eyelet skirt. It's a beautiful family heirloom and the cotton fabric is very delicate. When it's not being worn, this gown lives in Grandma Veva's cedar chest.

The blanket over Daddy's shoulder is also very special. Grandma Veva made it in 1994 when Mommy and Daddy were getting married. Mommy asked her to. The pattern is very special to our family because it looks like kitty cats and Grandma Veva has lovingly made these special blankets for her family for years. In all white, it's tricky to see the kitty cats. Mommy and Daddy had this blanket at their wedding. When it's not being used at baptisms, the blanket lives in Grandma Veva's cedar chest.

Matthew wore the same gown and blanket two and a half years ago!
