In May 2002, Mommy and Daddy bought this really pretty blue paint from Home Depot, with really good intentions of painting Matthew and Spencer's bedroom. One year later, they finally got around to using it. Grandma Marilyn and Pop-Pop came out to help paint.
Somewhat inspired by Trading Spaces (definitely not inspired by Hilde, probably inspired by Vern, with a theme, so that might be Kia, but no wallpaper border, so it might be Genevieve, but there's no photo copying or scanning...) Mommy got ideas. She actually got good ideas! So now we're beginning our adventure to a blue railroad inspired room, not in 48 hours but well under $1000!
Step One: Paint.
Matthew was disappointed that we didn't remove all of the furniture from the room. ("That's what they do on Trading Spaces!") Yes, I promise, he's only 4. I was there. I remember.
We didn't take a lot of before pictures but we took a few before we started painting:
Tarps are taped, in place. Daddy and Pop-Pop taped the tarps and cleaned the walls Friday night. You can see the "lilac" paint that Daddy painted in the Summer of 1998, before Matthew was born. It's about 5 years old!

Daddy and Pop-Pop painted the edges of the walls, the corners, around the window and doors. After lunch, Daddy, Pop-Pop, and Matthew rolled the walls. Mommy supervised Matthew. Grandma Marilyn took pictures and encouraged the painters. Spencer took a nap. By 3:00, the room was painted. It looked go-od.
The color is more or less the same as this webpage. On our iBook. We don't know what it looks like on your computer, but it should be a periwinkle-ish blue color. It's very pretty. It was from Home Depot. The label called it Blueberry Shake but the girl cut the recipe in half so it wouldn't be too dark.
